Terms of Service
Last updated: April 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to Deep Tech Week ("Platform", "we", "us", or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our website, mobile applications, and services operated by Hyperstition Incorporated.
By accessing or using our Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Platform.
2. Account Terms
- * You must be at least 18 years old to use this Platform.
- * You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password.
- * You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
- * You must provide accurate, complete, and current information in your profile.
- * You may not use the Platform for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
- * One person or entity may not maintain more than one account.
3. Fees and Commissions
Platform Commission
20% Commission
Deep Tech Week charges a 20% commission on ticket sales for paid events processed through the Platform. We encourage all events to be free, but for hosts who choose to charge for tickets, this commission applies to ticket sale proceeds.
Commission is calculated on the gross transaction amount before payment processing fees. Payment processor fees (typically 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) are passed through to the event host.
4. Refund Policy
Attendee Refunds
Refunds are only available if the event is cancelled. If an event is cancelled by the host, full refunds will be issued automatically. Otherwise, tickets are non-refundable.
Host Refund Policies
Event hosts may set their own refund policies that are more generous than our default policy. These policies will be displayed on the event page. Hosts cannot set policies that are more restrictive than the defaults above.
5. Event Hosting Terms
- * Event hosts are responsible for the accuracy of their event descriptions and the quality of their events.
- * Hosts must comply with all applicable laws and venue requirements.
- * Events must be relevant to the deep tech community and align with Deep Tech Week themes.
- * We reserve the right to reject or remove events that do not meet our quality standards.
- * Hosts agree not to collect attendee data for purposes other than event management without explicit consent.
- * Hosts are responsible for obtaining any necessary permits, licenses, or insurance for their events.
6. User Conduct
You agree not to:
- * Harass, abuse, or harm other users
- * Create fake or misleading profiles
- * Spam other users with unsolicited messages or promotions
- * Circumvent event capacity limits or registration requirements
- * Resell tickets or event access unless explicitly permitted
- * Use the Platform to promote illegal activities
- * Scrape or harvest user data without permission
7. Intellectual Property
- * The Platform and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Hyperstition Incorporated.
- * You retain ownership of content you upload, but grant us a license to use it for Platform operation.
- * You may use the Deep Tech Week logo and branding to reasonably promote your event, but you may not make any misleading claims about your relationship with Deep Tech Week or your participation in it without prior agreement.
- * Our rights of fair use do not apply to content uploaded for the purposes of presentations — including slide decks, videos, and similar materials. These remain exclusively the property of their rightful and original owner. We only keep temporary possession of these materials for the purpose of displaying them during an event run by the host. In short, we don't do anything with your presentation materials besides make it easier for you to run an event.
- * Event content and materials remain the property of respective hosts and speakers.
8. Banning
Certain users and individuals may be permanently banned from Deep Tech Week for bad behavior or bad vibes — including but not limited to violence, aggression, dishonesty, bad business practices, and exploitative or manipulative behavior.
There is no review or appeals process. Bans are made at the sole discretion of the organizer. You will not be informed if you are banned — your account will simply become invisible, and you will be removed from any and all events, even if you attempt to sign up again.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hyperstition Incorporated shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses.
We are not responsible for:
- * The quality, safety, or legality of events listed on the Platform
- * The accuracy of event listings or user profiles
- * The conduct of users at events
- * Any disputes between users, hosts, or attendees
10. Termination
- * We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or the Platform.
- * You may delete your account at any time through your account settings.
- * Upon termination, your right to use the Platform will immediately cease.
11. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. The arbitration shall take place in San Francisco, California.
You agree to waive any right to participate in class action lawsuits or class-wide arbitration against Hyperstition Incorporated.
12. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or Platform notification. Your continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
