Deep Tech Week Help

Getting Started

Set up your account and profile to get the most out of Deep Tech Week.

Creating Your Account

Deep Tech Week uses social login providers for account creation. You can sign up using:

  • Google - Quick signup with your Google account
  • LinkedIn - Recommended for professionals; helps verify your identity
  • Discord - Connect with the deep tech community
  • Twitter/X - Share your attendance easily

Tip: Using LinkedIn provides additional verification signals that can help with event approvals.

Completing Your Profile

A complete profile helps event hosts understand who you are and improves your chances of approval for selective events.

Required Fields

To complete onboarding, you must provide:

  • Name - Your display name on the platform
  • Headline - A brief description (e.g., "Founder at Acme" or "AI Researcher")
  • Interests - Select at least one deep tech interest area
  • Looking for - What you hope to gain from events

Recommended Fields

  • Photo - Helps hosts and other attendees recognize you
  • Company - Your current organization
  • Title - Your role or position
  • Bio - A longer description of your background
  • LinkedIn URL - Professional verification
  • Offering - What you can provide to the community

Privacy Settings

Privacy settings let you control who can see each part of your profile. Adjusting these settings helps you get approved to DTW events by giving hosts the information they need to evaluate registrations, while keeping sensitive information private from other attendees.

How to access: Go to your Profile and click the Privacy button next to Edit Profile.

Why Privacy Settings Matter

  • Event Approval - Hosts review your profile when deciding whether to approve your registration. More visible information helps them understand your background and fit for the event.
  • Match-Making - The platform uses your profile to suggest connections and networking opportunities. Information is only shared with other attendees based on your privacy choices.
  • Networking - Other attendees can see your public profile at events, helping facilitate introductions and conversations.

Visibility Levels

Each profile field can be set to one or more of the following visibility levels:

Public

Everyone

Visible to all platform users and on your public profile

Hosts

Event Hosts

Visible to event and conference hosts when reviewing your registrations

Conn

Connections

Only visible to users you've connected with at events

Private

Only You

Not visible to anyone else on the platform

You can combine Hosts and Connections for fields you want both groups to see.

Field Categories

Always Public (Cannot Change)

These fields are always visible to everyone to help with networking and matching:

  • Roles - What you do (Founder, Engineer, Investor, etc.)
  • Industry - What sector you work in

Public by Default (Networking)

These fields default to public so other attendees can discover you. You can make them less visible if you prefer:

  • Name - Your display name
  • Photo - Your profile picture
  • Headline - Your professional tagline
  • Company - Where you work
  • Title - Your role/position

Minimum Hosts Visibility

These fields are always visible to hosts to help them evaluate registrations. You can optionally make them more visible:

  • Interests - Deep tech areas you're interested in
  • Looking For - What you hope to gain from events
  • Offering - What you can provide to the community

Private by Default

These fields are private by default. You can make them more visible if you want:

  • Bio - Longer personal description
  • Email, Phone - Contact information
  • Social Links - LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. (default: connections only)
  • Event History - Past events you've attended (default: connections only)

Note: The default settings make your basic profile visible to other attendees for networking. If you prefer more privacy, you can adjust any non-locked field to be less visible.

Verification & Trust

The platform uses a trust system to help hosts make approval decisions and to reduce spam.

Trust Tiers

Basic

Any authenticated user with OAuth signup

Verified

LinkedIn verified, past DTW attendee, or matching email domain

Trusted

Verified + complete profile + 2 or more events attended

How Trust Helps

  • Higher trust scores improve approval chances for selective events
  • Trusted hosts may have their events auto-approved
  • Trust scores are internal and not displayed publicly

Claiming Past Attendance

If you attended previous Deep Tech Week events before creating an account, you can claim that history.

How It Works

  1. Sign up using the same email you used for past event registrations
  2. The platform automatically matches your email to historical attendance records
  3. Your event history is imported to your profile

Additional Emails

If you used different emails for different events, you can link additional emails to your account to claim all your attendance history.

Note: Each email can only be linked to one account. Historical imports are one-time operations.
