Wave Motion Launch Corporation
Startup · HQ Seattle, WA

Wave Motion Launch Corporation develops the Jet Gun, a barrel-less launcher that fires a jet of supersonic gas to propel projectiles to high speeds for applications including space payloads and tactical munitions. The company has received contracts from the U.S. Navy's Office of Naval Research ($1.3 million in 2022 via the Naval Surface Technology and Innovation Consortium) and the U.S. Army's DEVCOM Armaments Center (nearly $1.6 million). Its technology enables compact systems up to 100 times smaller than equivalent rockets or cannons, accommodating variable projectile sizes. Founders Finn van Donkelaar (CEO and patent holder), James Penna (COO), and Casey Dunn (former CFO) are University of Washington alumni who launched the venture through UW CoMotion’s I-Corps program. Additional executives include Azarias Assaye as Chief of Additive Manufacturing. The company was based in Everett, Washington, and relocated to a facility in Seattle's Industrial District in August 2024. Total funding exceeds $1.6 million.
