Vertical Semiconductor is an MIT spinout developing vertical gallium nitride (GaN) power transistors for efficient, high-voltage power delivery to AI chips and data centers. The company raised $11 million in seed funding in October 2025 led by Playground Global, with participation from JIMCO Technology Ventures, milemark•capital, and Shin-Etsu Chemical. Co-founders are CEO Cynthia Liao, CTO Josh Perozek, and advisor Professor Tomás Palacios.
