Ultra develops Operator (OP1), a multi-purpose AI robot that automates repetitive high-volume warehouse tasks including e-commerce order packing, sorting, kitting, and returns processing. The robots deploy at existing workstations in fulfillment centers across the United States to address labor shortages. They use neural networks trained on teleoperation data from RGB cameras to output joint and gripper positions at 10Hz, enabling adaptation to variable items, workflows, and demand without fixed infrastructure. Co-founded in 2024 by Jon Miller Schwartz (CEO, ex-Arena AI, Voodoo Manufacturing YC W17, Layer By Layer YC S13), Max Friefeld (COO, Harvey Mudd '13, ex-BCG logistics, prior YC founder), Chetan Parthiban (Chief Scientist, UPenn MSE Robotics, ex-Arena ML), and Oliver Ortlieb (CTO). Raised $500K pre-seed led by Y Combinator (Summer 2024) with Pioneer Fund. Headquartered in Brooklyn, NY, with robots generating revenue in U.S. warehouses.
