The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) is a U.S. federal government agency that provides loans, loan guarantees, direct equity investments, and political risk insurance to support private-sector-led development projects primarily in lower- and middle-income countries. It mobilizes private capital to advance U.S. foreign policy and economic development. DFC was formed on December 20, 2019, under the BUILD Act by merging the Overseas Private Investment Corporation with the Development Credit Authority of USAID and other offices.
