Still Bright develops RACER (Rapid and Complete Electrochemical Reduction) technology, a patented hydrometallurgical process that converts concentrated copper ore to refined copper cathode. It serves mining operations handling high-grade chalcopyrite, dirty concentrates with penalty elements, copper-rich mine waste, low-grade ores, and polymetallic deposits, enabling domestic refining in copper-rich nations like the United States and recovery of co-products including gold, nickel, and molybdenum. The RACER process uses electrochemical reduction in a closed-loop system at room temperature and pressure, recycling extraction reagents continuously and achieving 90-99% copper recovery in minutes without flotation or smelting. The company was co-founded in 2022 by Ranulfo Allen (CEO, PhD Stanford), Jon Vardner (CTO, PhD chemical engineering Columbia University), Scott Banta (co-founder, Chair of Chemical Engineering at Columbia University), and Alan West (Chief Science Officer and co-founder, Professor of Chemical Engineering at Columbia University). Still Bright raised an $18.7 million seed round in 2025 led by Material Impact and Breakthrough Energy Ventures. It is headquartered in Newark, New Jersey.
