TerraFirma is a robotic construction startup founded by ex-SpaceX engineers Noah Schochet (CEO) and Noah McGuinness (CTO). It develops human-in-the-loop automation software and retrofitted hardware that allows a single operator to remotely control multiple pieces of heavy earthmoving equipment for excavation, demolition, and site work. The company is backed by Bain Capital Ventures, generates revenue from terrestrial construction projects, and has long-term goals of adapting the technology for Mars habitat construction. It previously operated from a Southwest Austin testing site branded as Robot Ranch and is relocating its HQ, R&D, and testing facility to Buda, Texas.
