Startup·HQ El Segundo, CA·FOUNDED 2020·517 ATTENDEES REACHED
Radiant Nuclear develops Kaleidos, a portable 1 MW electric nuclear microreactor delivered in a transportable container and assembled, fueled, and tested in a factory. The company says the unit is designed to replace diesel generators and provide backup or primary power for remote villages, hospitals, data centers, military installations, and other customers that need resilient microgrids; it can also supply thermal power for heating or water desalination. Its design uses helium gas heat transfer, air cooling without on-site water use, and TRISO fuel, and it is intended to operate with factory deployment and remote fleet monitoring. Doug Bernauer is the co-founder and CEO, and the company’s site and company listings place it in El Segundo, California. Its customers and announced buyers include military and commercial users, and Equinix has pre-ordered 20 units.
