Pixxel develops and operates hyperspectral Earth observation satellites including the Firefly constellation of six satellites providing high spatial, spectral, and temporal resolution imagery as well as demo satellites Shakuntala and Anand. The company offers Aurora, a no-code satellite data analysis platform, and custom satellite manufacturing services for LEO, MEO, and GEO missions. Customers span agriculture, energy, government, environment, forestry, mining, and defense sectors, including the US National Reconnaissance Office, Indian Air Force, NASA, and SI Imaging Services. Their technology employs hyperspectral imaging sensors capturing data across up to 150 spectral bands for detailed surface analysis. Pixxel was co-founded in 2019 by Awais Ahmed (CEO) and Kshitij Khandelwal (CTO). It raised $36M Series B in 2023 from Google and existing investors, plus a $24M extension in 2024 from M&G Catalyst and Glade Brook Capital Partners, for total funding of $95M. Headquarters are in Bengaluru, India, with an office in El Segundo, CA.
