Oura Health Oy, founded in 2013 by Petteri Lahtela, Kari Kivelä, and Markku Koskela, makes the Oura Ring, a smart ring and associated app that tracks sleep, activity, stress, heart health, and other wellness metrics. The company sells its rings through its own online store and authorized retailers, and it has positioned the product for everyday consumers as well as teams and institutional users, including a partnership with Team USA. Oura says the latest Oura Ring 4 uses “Smart Sensing” to adapt to the wearer’s finger and deliver continuous health data, and the product line includes multiple finishes and sizes. Oura is led by CEO Tom Hale, and its board and executive team have included other named leaders such as cofounder Petteri Lahtela. In 2021, Oura raised a $100 million Series C led by Fidelity Management & Research Company, and later announced a $200 million financing led by Dexcom and others. The company is headquartered in Oulu, Finland, and has also maintained a U.S. presence in San Francisco.
