The Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) is a 501(c)(6) trade association representing the U.S. commercial nuclear power industry. Founded in 1994 through the merger of prior nuclear organizations, it is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and advocates for policies supporting nuclear energy use and growth, develops industry standards and briefing materials, and educates lawmakers and the public on nuclear technologies and operations.
