Material Hybrid Manufacturing develops HYBRID3D, a chemistry-agnostic 3D printing platform that manufactures full-stack batteries in-situ by printing anode, cathode, separator, and casing directly into device structures without molds or constraints on shape. The batteries enable custom geometries that utilize up to 90% of a device's interior volume for applications in drones, defense, medical devices, AI wearables, robotics, mobility, and unmanned aerial systems, including pilots with consumer electronics partners and foldable chargers sold at Apple and Verizon stores. In January 2026, the company raised $7.1 million in Seed funding co-led by Outlander VC and Harpoon Ventures, with participation from GoAhead Ventures, Myelin VC, Demos Capital, and Giant Step Capital. It also received a $1.25 million Phase II SBIR contract from the U.S. Air Force to develop conformal batteries for Class I UAS in partnership with PDW and other defense developers. Founded in 2023 by Gabe Elias (CEO, former Formula 1 design engineer at Mercedes-AMG Petronas and Rivian) and Christopher Reyes (CTO, PhD in Materials Chemistry from Duke University, developer of one of the first fully 3D printed lithium-ion batteries), the startup is headquartered in Miami, FL.
