Leeta Materials manufactures ceramic powders and sintered components, including boride materials and boride cermets such as tungsten carbide (WC), TiB₂, B₄C, and SiC. These products serve industrial sectors including mining, heavy machinery, coatings, defense, aerospace, energy, automotive, and construction. The company uses a proprietary U.S.-based manufacturing process that reduces energy use and improves material quality relative to traditional methods, enabling commercial production of boride materials with higher oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, and toughness. Leeta Materials was co-founded in 2023 by Kira Wyckoff (CEO, UC Santa Barbara PhD) and Linus Kautzsch (CTO, UC Santa Barbara PhD). It raised a $5.65 million seed round in 2025 and won the grand prize at UC Santa Barbara’s 24th Annual New Venture Competition. The company is headquartered in Goleta, California, where it recently opened a new laboratory.
