Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is a federally funded research and development center in Livermore, California, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and operated by Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC. Established in 1952, its mission is to enable U.S. security and global stability by applying multidisciplinary science, engineering, and technology to national security challenges, with an enduring focus on nuclear deterrence and stockpile stewardship.
