Kyber Labs develops a robotic manipulation platform consisting of low-cost robot hands with high backdrivability, torque transparency, and mechanical compliance that provide general-purpose dexterity for assembly and manipulation tasks. The hands feature five fingers and pair with a software stack converting high-level commands into actions, deployable across robot arms and mobile bases for scalable data collection by robotics developers and researchers. Targeted markets include high-mix low-volume manufacturing, lab workflows like pathology tasks, and unstructured environments. Technology employs actuators mimicking human hand precision for fluid movements such as rapid nut threading and feather-light contact sensing via torque currents and prototype tactile sensors. Co-founded in 2022 by Tyler Habowski and Yonatan Robbins, who led mechanical design at Tarform for electric motorcycles after 13 years in product design; Julian Viereck is robotics research scientist with PhD from NYU, prior machine learning engineering at Amazon, and projects at Google X and CERN. The company raised $1.7M in a seed round completed September 2023 from investors including Cortical Ventures, Elliptic Ventures, Earthrise Ventures, Starburst Ventures, Fundomo, and Heuristic Capital. Headquarters are located in Brooklyn, NY.
