Jua builds a weather and climate forecasting platform centered on a large physics model for the atmosphere, which it says can generate high-resolution, hourly-updated forecasts and other data used in energy trading and renewable energy planning. Its site and investor coverage describe the company as serving energy-market users, with customers using the platform to identify tradeable weather events and to support operational decisions. The company says its model is trained on large-scale environmental data and is designed as a foundation model for physical reality rather than a narrow, task-specific weather predictor. Jua’s co-founder and CEO is Andreas Brenner. In February 2024, Jua announced a $4 million seed round led by Firstminute Capital, with participation from Elad Gil, FJ Labs, and others. Its public materials describe the company as Zurich-based.
