Google Research
Corporate

Google Research is the research division of Google, focusing on long-term projects in artificial intelligence, machine learning, systems, and neuroscience including connectomics. The Connectomics team maps brain circuits at synaptic resolution using volume electron microscopy and machine learning models for segmentation and reconstruction. They have produced the largest synapse-level maps of fruit fly, mouse, and human brain tissue to date. Open-source tools from the team include Neuroglancer for web-based visualization of multidimensional image data and TensorStore for scalable array storage. Research outputs contribute to Google's products like search and cloud services, with publications exceeding thousands of citations. The division employs hundreds of researchers across offices in Mountain View, London, Zurich, and other locations.
