Foothold Labs develops the NanoRev diagnostic platform, a portable device that uses electrochemical biosensors and machine learning to provide rapid quantitative analytical results at the point of need. The system detects infectious disease biomarkers such as COVID-19 in saliva within five minutes for under $35 per test, along with stress, fatigue, and tobacco biomarkers. It also identifies pesticides and toxic chemical threats in saltwater through technology licensed from the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory. Markets include point-of-care healthcare, pharmaceutical drug research and development via partnership with the University of Kansas Bioengineering Berkland Group, and defense applications for the DoD and first responders. Founded in 2017 by Sean McIntosh, former Navy SEAL officer with 14 years of service. Headquarters are in Olathe, KS, on the Kansas State University Olathe Campus. The company has raised more than $1.5MM in SBIR grant funding from the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Special Operations Command.
