The Ethereum Foundation supports the Ethereum ecosystem by funding protocol development and coordinating research and engineering efforts. It provides grants to teams building core infrastructure such as Ethereum client implementations and cryptographic primitives. The organization serves the global community of Ethereum developers and users. Leadership includes President Aya Miyaguchi, Co-Executive Directors Hsiao-Wei Wang and interim Bastian Aue as of February 2026, and board members Vitalik Buterin (Ethereum inventor), Patrick Storchenegger, and Hsiao-Wei Wang. It was established in 2014 following a crowdsale that raised $18.3 million.
