Electroflow Technologies Inc. develops an electrochemical process to extract lithium from dilute saltwater brines and convert it into lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) material for electric vehicle batteries. The company's three-step process uses lithium-selective electrodes to absorb lithium ions from brines and release them into a carbonate solution, producing lithium carbonate that can be further processed into LFP powder or sold directly to battery manufacturers. Eric McShane serves as CEO and co-founder, alongside co-founder Evan Gardner as CTO. In October 2025, Electroflow raised a $10 million seed round led by Union Square Ventures and Voyager, with participation from Fifty Years and Harpoon Ventures; the company is also backed by Breakthrough Energy Ventures. The company's V1 system, expected operational by end of 2025, targets production costs of approximately $5,000 per metric ton, with plans to scale to under $2,500 per metric ton; a full-size containerized system will be capable of producing 100 metric tons of LFP material annually.
