Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin operates as a university hospital providing medical treatment across basic care to highly specialized therapies, including emergency services, oncology, cardiology, neurology, and surgical procedures at three main campuses: Charité Mitte, Virchow-Klinikum in Wedding, and Benjamin Franklin in Steglitz. It handles around 850,000 outpatient and inpatient cases annually with over 3,000 beds and employs approximately 18,700 staff, including 4,500 nurses and 4,800 scientists and physicians. The institution conducts medical research through numerous Collaborative Research Centres funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and supports education for about 8,000 students in around 20 programs across human medicine, dentistry, and health sciences. It organizes operations into 17 CharitéCentren encompassing 130 clinics and institutes, such as the Charité Comprehensive Cancer Center and centers for neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, and women's and children's medicine. Its headquarters is at Charitéplatz 1, 10117 Berlin, with additional addresses including Hufelandweg 7a and Virchowweg 22 on Campus Charité Mitte. A wholly owned subsidiary, Charité Healthcare Services GmbH, manages services for international patients from its office at Bundesallee 39–40a, 10717 Berlin.
