Ayar Labs develops silicon photonics-based optical interconnects that replace electrical links with light-based chip-to-chip communication. Its flagship products are the TeraPHY optical chiplet, which delivers 8 Tbps bandwidth at 10-nanosecond latency, and the SuperNova light source, sold as a co-packaged offering for integration into CPUs, GPUs, and AI accelerators. The company licenses and sells these solutions to semiconductor manufacturers, hyperscale data center operators, and system integrators, with shipments of approximately 15,000 units to select customers by December 2024. TeraPHY converts electronic data to photons for inter-package transmission and back to electrons for system-on-chip compatibility, addressing data bottlenecks in distributed AI systems. Ayar Labs was founded in 2015 and has received funding from venture capital firms and strategic investors including AMD, Applied Ventures, GlobalFoundries, Hewlett Packard Pathfinder, Intel Capital, and NVIDIA. Matt Thorn serves as VP of Commercial Operations.
