1X develops NEO, a bipedal humanoid robot designed for household chores including personalized assistance, and EVE, a wheeled humanoid robot deployed in factories for autonomous industrial tasks such as logistics. NEO targets US consumers via private early access programs with shipments starting in 2026 at $20,000 or $499 monthly subscription, while EVE operates in customer facilities globally. The robots feature proprietary actuation systems inspired by human tendons, perception and manipulation technologies, and a physics-grounded video world model for predicting actions. Originally founded in 2014 as Halodi Robotics by Bernt Øivind Børnich, who serves as CEO, and rebranded to 1X in 2022. The company raised $100 million in a Series B round in January 2024 led by EQT Ventures with Samsung NEXT and others, following a $23.5 million Series A2 in March 2023 led by OpenAI Startup Fund with Tiger Global. Headquarters are in Palo Alto, California, with manufacturing in Hayward, California, and Moss, Norway.
