Ryan Pickering is Head of Development at Oppenheimer Energy, where he leads the origination and advancement of fission projects under Charles Oppenheimer. He specializes in off-balance-sheet, phased development models that align with utility governance standards and navigate regulatory realities, ensuring projects progress smoothly through construction without delays to customers or balance sheets. Prior to joining Oppenheimer Energy, Ryan served as Head of Policy at the Native Nuclear nonprofit under Scott Lathrop. In that role, he organized private tribal meetings and public engagement events with the U.S. Department of Energy on nuclear energy topics. He remains actively involved as a volunteer advisor and scholarship mentor for the organization. Earlier in his career, Ryan spent nearly a decade at SunPower Corporation under David Saitta, where he managed the large-scale deployment of solar + storage projects onto the California grid. This experience gave him deep expertise in utility-scale delivery, grid integration, procurement processes, and the regulatory and stakeholder complexities of building critical infrastructure with broad public support.
