The Zuse Institute Berlin develops mathematical models and algorithms that integrate simulation, optimization, data-driven methods, and high-performance computing to address complex problems in natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medicine, social sciences, and humanities. It operates high-performance research infrastructures and provides computing capacity as part of the Northern Germany high-performance computing network. Research is structured into three divisions: Mathematics for Complex Systems, Mathematical Algorithmic Intelligence, and Parallel and Distributed Computing, with application areas including energy, mobility, health, life science, nanotech, HPC-AI, and networks. The institute collaborates with over 35 industrial partners through the public-private Research Campus MODAL and participates in DFG-funded clusters like MATH+ and EU projects. Leadership comprises President Prof. Dr. Christof Schütte, Vice Presidents Prof. Dr. Sebastian Pokutta and Prof. Dr. Andrea Walther, and Administrative Director Dr. Kathrin Rost-Drese. Headquartered at Takustraße 7 in Dahlem, Berlin, Germany, on the Freie Universität Berlin campus.
