TT49 provides early-stage venture capital with initial investments of €250K-1M and follow-ons up to €7M to deep-tech startups emerging from German research institutions including Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, DLR, Helmholtz Association, Leibniz Association, Max Planck Society, and partner universities. It targets pre-seed and seed-stage companies averaging three months old with scalable business models, competent teams, and regulated IP access, excluding drug research. The fund was founded in 2026 by general partners Matthias Keckl (former Fraunhofer startup manager and Venture Lab head), Tobias Schwind (former Fraunhofer startup manager and co-founder of VC-backed spinout Industrial Solar), Johann C. Siemes (former Fraunhofer legal counsel and startup manager), and Jörg Wamser (co-founder of Max Planck spinouts and former BMW executive), alongside Liane Beckmann as CFO (former Siemens finance head). TT49 has a €90 million target capitalization following a first close exceeding €70 million from Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, European Investment Fund via multiple facilities, DLR, private entrepreneurial families, hidden champions, and other public investors. Headquarters are in Munich, Germany, with a focus on science-driven startups from the German and European research landscape.
