Subsense, Inc. develops a non-surgical, nanoparticle-based bidirectional brain-computer interface that combines nanoparticles inside the brain with a wearable headset for neural reading and stimulation. The company says its first product is aimed at accessible neuro-modulation and neural-reading applications for neurological diseases, including Parkinson’s disease, and it has also described longer-term uses such as vision, hearing, movement, and speech-related applications. Subsense was co-founded by Tetiana Aleksandrova and Artem Sokolov, and Sokolov’s Golden Falcon Capital led the company’s seed financing. Public reports on the company’s latest fundraising differ, with one stating a $17 million seed round and the company’s own site later saying it raised $10 million in additional seed funding as part of a $27 million seed round-plus. Subsense says it is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, and its website also notes that it opened a lab in Palo Alto.
