Seabound develops and installs modular, container-based carbon capture systems for retrofitting onto large cargo ships and vessels like cement carriers. The systems target the maritime shipping industry, with pilots and projects involving customers such as Hartmann Group, InterMaritime Group, Heidelberg Materials Northern Europe, Lomar Shipping, and Hapag-Lloyd, and letters of intent from major shipowners. The technology uses calcium looping with lime-based sorbents to capture 25-95% of CO₂ and up to 98% of sulphur emissions from ship exhaust, converting CO₂ into solid calcium carbonate pebbles for offloading at port in standard containers. Alisha Fredriksson serves as co-founder and CEO, Roujia Wen as co-founder and CTO, and Walker Kehoe as founding engineer. The company raised $4.4 million in seed funding from Lowercarbon Capital, Y Combinator, Soma Capital, Rebel Fund, Hawktail, Emles Venture Partners, and Collaborative Fund, and later secured a €1.5 million award from the European Space Agency. Seabound is headquartered in London, United Kingdom.
