Carbyon develops direct air capture equipment to remove CO2 from the atmosphere for underground storage or conversion into fossil fuel alternatives. Its first product, Carbyon GO, is a modular machine that captures 3 tons of CO2 per year using 1 kg of proprietary sorbent material, achieving 90% saturation in 100 seconds. The company operates demonstration units in Canada through a partnership with DeepSky, which piloted two Air Processing Units each removing 50 tons of CO2 annually. Carbyon employs a patented fast-swing process with functionalized activated carbon fibers and thin-film technology, proven to use under 2,500 kWh per ton of CO2. Founded in 2019 by Hans De Neve as a TNO spin-off, it has raised $10 million in venture funding and won a Milestone Award in the XPRIZE Carbon Removal competition. The company is headquartered in Eindhoven, Netherlands, where it tests machines at the High Tech Campus.
